Saved places

Save the fuel stop, the campsite, or the quiet layby you want to find again. Saved places are tied to your account, so sign in to keep them.

Saving a place​

  • Open any place on the map and tap the bookmark. The place's category comes across automatically.
  • Give a saved place a category of your own (fuel station, campsite, pub, and so on) so long lists stay tidy.

Drop a pin to save any spot​

You are not limited to places Radar already lists. To save any point on the map, such as a quiet layby, a gate, or a viewpoint that no data source knows about:

  • On a touch screen, press and hold the spot.
  • On a computer, right-click the spot.

A pin drops with a Save box: give it a name (an address is filled in for you), pick a category if you like, and save. It then behaves like any other saved place. You need to be signed in to save a dropped pin.

Saving from a Nomad van​

There is no sign-in on the Radar screen in a Nomad van. The van signs in for you, as whoever you have picked as the driver, so to save a place from the van's screen pick a driver from the faces beside the map and the place goes to that person's account. See Who is driving.

If nobody is picked, the Save box on the van screen says to choose a driver. It used to offer a sign-in page instead, which could not open inside the van's dashboard and ended in an error about a secure connection that named the wrong page.

A dropped pin is private to you unless you say otherwise. Tick Make public in the same box to also offer it to the community map, where it goes live once it has been reviewed. You can add a description, a note on whether you would stop there again, and up to three photos at the same time.

Home and Work​

Pin a Home and a Work place. They sit at the top of the "Jump to place" menu and are one tap to route to.

Finding them when you plan a route​

When you plan a route, start typing a name into the start, destination, or stop boxes and Radar suggests your matching saved places. This works for any place you have saved, not only Home and Work, so you can route to a campsite or layby by name without hunting for it on the map. See Routing & your vehicle.

The Saved places page​

The Saved places page groups everything by category, with a search box and a category filter, so a long list stays navigable. Addresses are filled in for you even when a source only gave coordinates, so your list never shows raw numbers.

On a phone it is the Saved tab along the bottom, and it is there whether or not you have saved anything yet. It used to be unreachable on a phone until you had saved your first place, which was the wrong way round. See Getting around Radar.

The "My places" map layer​

Your saved places are their own toggleable map layer, alongside Places, Hazards, and Floods. Each shows in its category colour and icon; Home and Work get house and briefcase icons.

How many you can save​

  • Base (free): up to 100 saved places.
  • Premium: up to 1,000.
