Summary

Settings is open to everyone on the van, with a PIN if you want one. Scenes are yours to reorder, rename, hide and add to. A camera shows you the drain while you dump grey water. Five new instincts watch your batteries, fridge and freezer. Automatic updates now wait for your maintenance window. And a long list of smaller fixes, including two readings that showed the wrong number on real vans.

One thing to do after updating

The bar across the top of every dashboard used to show every temperature sensor you had, and on a van with several it overflowed. It now shows the ones you choose, and to begin with that is none. Open Settings, choose Devices, expand a temperature sensor and switch on Show Temperature In Header. The Climate tab still shows every temperature whatever you pick.

Settings is open to everyone

On a unit we supplied, every tablet and phone login can now open Settings. You no longer log out and back in as somebody else to change a setting, which on a phone meant the app setting itself up all over again.

If you would rather Settings asked first, switch on Admin Lock, under System and then Passwords. Settings then asks for a PIN, which starts as 1234 and is yours to change in the same place. The unlock lasts fifteen minutes after you stop using Settings, and there is a Lock button at the end of the tab strip for when you leave the tablet on the wall. Admin Lock is off to begin with.

Two tabs have moved to make room for this. The tab that was called Admin is now System, and holds passwords, updates, remote access, restart and a new Factory Reset. The tab that was called System is now Diagnostics.

Scenes are yours to arrange

On the Scenes tab of the Intelligence dashboard, press and hold a scene until it lifts, then drag it along the row. Untick Shown on one you never use and it disappears from the tiles and pills without losing its settings. Type over a name, pick a different icon, or press Add to make a scene of your own.

Each thing in a scene now gets a proper control rather than a box to type into: On or Off for a fan or a socket, Open or Closed for a blind, a list of modes for the heating. And the van switches to Drive on its own when you set off, and back to Parked when you stop, so the scene you left it in is not the scene you drive in. The map takes on a driving layout at the same time, with bigger targets and no keyboard.

A camera for dumping grey water

On Pro and above, add one camera, point it at the drain, and the Cab dashboard gains a Dump tab: the picture full-screen, live, with a large Dump Valve button on it if one of your relay channels works the valve. Dumping is done from the driving seat with the van over the drain and no other way of seeing it, which is the whole reason this exists.

It is a live view only. Nothing is recorded and nothing is watched for you.

Five new instincts

• Batteries out of balance, when one battery's charge is far from the others.
• Battery output turned off, when a pack has had its output switched off in its own app and is quietly contributing nothing.
• Temperature watch, when any thermometer you flag rises or falls too fast.
• Fridge watch and Freezer watch, each with its own threshold.

The fridge and freezer ones no longer ask you to pick a sensor on the instinct. Instead, expand the sensor's row under Settings, Devices, and flag it Fridge, Freezer or Temperature Watch. Flag as many as you like.

The vibration alarm has changed too. It now sounds only while the van is in Sentinel, because a knock while you are aboard watching a film is not a break-in. It is amber rather than red, and it clears itself when the sensor settles instead of nagging every five minutes about a knock that happened hours ago. A water leak alarm is still red, still sounds in every scene, and now also tells you if the van starts up already wet.

Updates wait for your maintenance window

If you set a maintenance window under Software updates, automatic updates now keep to it. Before this they could run in the middle of the afternoon regardless. Update now is still immediate. The download size shown for an update is also now the size your system will actually download.

Lighting

Fitting an addressable LED strip used to mean finding two settings in a datasheet. Now you expand the controller under Settings, Devices, and pick your strip by name from LED Strip Profile. Drag Number of Pixels up if the far end of a long strip never lights.

A light whose controller is fed from one of your relay channels has one power button that does both jobs, so there is no separate standby button to find. And a controller from a batch Sensa has not seen before still appears in the Devices list and can be added; you tell it which kind it is.

New devices

• Dometic FreshJet FJX and FJZ air conditioners, now found without any switch to flip, and with Interior and Roof buttons for the unit's own lights.
• DJI Power 1000 V2 portable power station, on its own DJI tab of the Habitation dashboard. Other DJI Power models are found and named but do not yet report their readings.
• Renogy Pro and Renogy Core leisure batteries with built-in Bluetooth.
• Lucky Miner LV08 Pro Bitcoin miner, with a Crypto tab that shows what it earns and how much of your power it takes, by hand or on autopilot. Pro and above.

Two readings that were wrong on real vans

Solar showed a dash. On some vans with Victron SmartSolar chargers, the solar figure on the power-flow diagram never filled in while every other reading did. Nothing was wrong with the chargers, and the figure now shows.

Shore power did not drop to zero. Unplug the hook-up lead and the shore power figure kept showing the last wattage it saw. It now reads 0 W the moment the lead comes out.

Smaller fixes

• The devices under a Victron Cerbo GX no longer vanish from the Devices list every other refresh.
• The Tracking switch in the cab and the tracking badge in the mySensa app now always agree.
• Remote access and remote support cannot be switched on while any login still has the password it was built with. The switch says which login is holding it.
• The Home screen shows a dial for every tank your system can read, including diesel and LPG, not just fresh and grey water.
• The Switches tab shows only the relay channels you have enabled, and a channel that feeds a light controller no longer reads On while the controller is unpowered.
• Zigbee lights no longer show a red dot after a restart until you toggle them.
• A restart no longer lands the tablet on Home Assistant's own Home page instead of Sensa's.
